About Us
"There's a poverty worse than having nothing to eat ... and, that is being forgotten by everyone." Mother Teresa
These words of Mother Teresa and a plea for assistance from his good friend, Br Frank Chappell (left), inspired Noel O'Brien to organise a group of like-minded people - "The 500 Supporters' Group" - who were willing to make a difference to the lives of people in the world who were doing it tough.
Br Frank, who had reached retirment age, had turned his back on the comforts of life in Australia to assist some of the most disadvantaged people in one of the poorest regions of Africa, and The 500 Supporters' Group committed themselves to raising awareness for, and funds to assist, specific projects to improve the standard of health and education within these impoverished regions.
And, we're pleased to report, through the generosity of our Supporters, we are starting to make a real difference.
- to construct and operate a medical clinic in Kenya
- to make basic improvements to tin sheds, which are used as Primary School classrooms in Kenya
- to build and operate a vocational training centre in Tanzania
- to construct and operate a co-educational Secondary School in Tanzania
- to construct and operate a Primary & Secondary school in Kenya
- to install a water purification facility and a toilet block in Kenya
But, as you would know, eradicating poverty in Africa is very much a "work in progress", and there is still a huge amount of work that needs to be done and we will continue to do all we can to assist those on the ground in Africa.
So, if you have a compassionate heart and are able to make just one financial sacrifice each year, please join us in our mission to make life a little easier for those in the world, who have virtually nothing.
